There are Air B&B's in the area as well as some other hotels. Keep in mind, taxis are not common on the coast and you could be waiting awhile for one to come.
According to the Resort website, your GPS frequently will not get you here by using their name or address (I have not had any problems using GoogleMaps or my car GPS when using their address, 5356 Oles Cove Rd). If required, program in N49˚, 32.510' W123˚, 58.672'.
From Vancouver, take Trans-Canada Highway 1 West to BC Ferries' Horseshoe Bay terminal (located in West Vancouver. DO NOT go to the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal). Choose the Langdale route(The term Langdale and Gibsons will be used interchangeably for this route), a 40-minute journey across Howe Sound to the Sunshine Coast. Exiting Langdale terminal, following the main traffic flow (Sunshine Coast Highway) straight through the traffic lights and up the hill. This route will take you to Hwy 101, the north-south artery of the Sunshine Coast. You will pass through the upper portion of Gibsons where you will have to take a right turn at the 2nd set of traffic lights you come across in town, continue toward the village of Sechelt. After exiting Sechelt, continue for approximately 20 minutes, passing by Halfmoon Bay. Now watch for the Blue & White Hwy Sign that says Rockwater Resort with an arrow indicating to turn left, this road is called Mercer (Mercer is a large U-shapped road, so you will pass the southern entrance to this road first, continue on the highway to the northern section of Mercer where to Rockwater sign will direct you to turn, then almost immediately turn right up Ole's Cove Road. Rockwater Resort is on the ocean at the end of Ole's Cove Road. Total travel time from Langdale ferry terminal to Rockwater Resort is approximately 45 minutes.
If weather permits, we strongly recommend exiting your vehicle on the ferry and going to the outer decks to enjoy the views while crossing over to the Sunshine Coast. Driving on the ferry is somewhat pricey, and we recommend carpooling as much as possible to save on costs. You will have to pay for the ferry when traveling from Horseshoe Bay over to Langdale, however the return trip is FREE. You can make a reservation to ensure a spot on a certain time ferry if that is your preference, or you can chance it and see how busy it is. If you want to book a reservation, the cost is about $10 if it is 2 weeks or more in advance, and about $20 if booked under 2 weeks early. On the BC Ferries website, there is a bar in the top right corner called 'Current Conditions' that will show you how full the next sailing is, so you can keep track of how early you may need to arrive at the terminal. If you have a reservation, you MUST arrive at least 30 mins prior to the sailings scheduled departure time. If you arrive 29 mins prior, you're reservation will not be any good. If you are not going to make a reservation, I would recommend arriving at the Terminal at a minimum of 1 hour early, or possibly longer for more popular sailings such as weekends.
